There are many theories about how to be the best possible parent, but everyone would agree that having a close and trusting relationship with your children is the starting point. There's little point in trying to work on more complicated issues if this fundamental factor hasn't been addressed. Sadly, many parents bring up their children making the exact same mistakes that their own parents made with them. That's how the same problems are often passed along from one generation to the next. However, if you are reading this then at least you are making the noble effort to become aware.
